The state of the blog:
Dear friends, I know that some of you have been wondering what happened to the blog. I have certainly slowed down quite a bit recently. This is an unfortunate byproduct of being very busy in good activities—traveling to interesting places to do lots of photography, lots of speaking to different groups. All good, but all very time-consuming and tiring. And when I’m here in Quibdó, I’m often swamped with processing the most urgent pictures, translating documents and video scripts, sending out letters and proposals to try to raise the interest (i.e., the money) to keep this work going, and so on. So my correspondence and this blog have suffered.
Recently I’ve had some very interesting trips out of Quibdó—to a gathering in an Embera village that was part of a campaign to rescue and strengthen traditional cultural forms, and a trip down the Atrato that involved visiting four communities in as many days. Soon I hope to post materials about these trips, as well as other materials I’ve been developing for you.
What’s good about this is that I have a lot of material to develop, lots to share with you, and so I expect to be posting about this trip and about El Chocó long after I return to Cleveland.
Thanks for your patience, everyone. For those who have sent notes and responses, thanks for your interest; your responses help keep this effort worthwhile. For the rest, thanks in advance for any comments you might send.
I also know that the link to my comments about photography and international interchanges didn’t work. I’m going to fix it today, and in the meantime, here it is again.

Querid@s amig@s, sé bien que algun@s de Uds últimamente se han estado preguntando que ha pasado con el blog. Seguro que he puesto menos entradas recientemente. Esto ha sido iuna consecuencia lamentable de haber estado ocupadísimo en actividades buenas—saliendo a lugares interesantes para hacer mucha fotografía, muchas charlas a distintos grupos. Todo bueno, pero consume mucho tiempo y cansa a uno. Y cuando estoy acá en Quibdo, paso mucho tiempo ahogándome con procesar las fotos más urgentes, traducir documentos y guiones de videos, mandar carta y propuestas para intentar despertar el interés (o sea, la plata) para seguir en este trabajo, etc. Por eso han sufrido tanto mi correspondencia como el blog.
Últimamente he tenido unas salidas de Quibdo sumamente interesantes—a un encuentro que fue parte de una campaña para rescatar y reforzar actividades culturales tradicionales acá, y un viaje abajo en el río Atrato que incluyó visitas a cuatro comunidades en cuatro días. Dentro de poco espero entrar materiales sobre estas salidas, ademeas de otros materiales que he estado desarrollando para Uds.
Lo bueno de esto es que tengo mucho material que elaborar, mucho para compartir con Uds., por eso espero estar cargando entradas sobre esta visita y sobre El Chocó por mucho tiempo después de volver a Cleveland.
