Exhibit of Photographs from El Chocó, Colombia

This March, I will be showing a lot of photographs from my work in El Chocó since April of 2003 at Casita Maria, an arts and education center in the South Bronx.

I’m pleased to have a chance to show this work in New York—but perhaps even more, I’m really happy and nostalgic to have a show in the South Bronx (mi terruño), and especially pleased to have the exhibit in Casita Maria, a terrific institution

The exhibit will include many black-and-white prints as well as a “draft” version of a proposed traveling interactive photo/text exhibit, intended to tour through and engage communities throughout El Chocó and beyond.

The show in Casita Maria will be open from March 8 to 30, 9 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday. I’ll be in the city the first week, and there will be a reception at Casita on Thursday, March 11, from 7 to 9 PM. (We’re also planning for me to give a couple of talks there, dates to be announced.) I hope I’ll see some of you there!

Casita Maria is at 928 Simpson Street, very close to East 163rd Street. It’s only a couple of blocks from Bruckner Boulevard, close to the Hunts Point Avenue stop on the 6 line, and the Simpson Street stop on the 2 and 5 (easy to get there!).
